AUH Industries is advancing the development of its multi-brand motor vehicle and electric vehicle assembly and manufacturing plant at the COEGA Special Economic Zone in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
The facility is being developed in four deliberate phases. Phase 1 will focus on Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) assembly of selected vehicle models, establishing core operations, skills and quality systems. Subsequent phases will expand into Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly, increased localization of components with domestic supplier development, and ultimately full-scale manufacturing capability supporting the long-term creation of a South African vehicle brand.
The COEGA SEZ was selected for its world-class logistics infrastructure adjacent to the deep-water Port of Ngqura, its established position within South Africa’s automotive manufacturing corridor, and the investment incentives available within the Special Economic Zone framework.
As a 100% black-owned South African EV OEM, AUH Industries sees the project as a catalyst for transformation in the automotive sector — creating skilled jobs, developing black-owned suppliers and anchoring new-energy vehicle production on African soil.
