AUH Industries has outlined its skills development framework designed to support the phased rollout of its COEGA manufacturing operations.
The programme focuses on three tracks: high-voltage electric vehicle technicians certified to work safely on EV powertrains and battery systems; production artisans and operators trained for modern assembly line environments; and engineering graduates developed into automotive production, quality and industrial engineers.
Electric mobility requires capabilities that South Africa’s existing automotive workforce — while world-class in conventional vehicle production — has not yet built at scale. The training pipeline is designed to close that gap while creating meaningful career paths for young people in the Eastern Cape.
The company intends to partner with technical colleges, universities and industry bodies as each phase of the plant comes online, with skills development embedded as a core commitment of the project rather than an afterthought.
